What is an RPZ Valve?
An RPZ (Reduced Pressure Zone) valve is designed for use in commercial and industrial applications to avoid back syphonage and pollution of the potable water distribution system.
Backflow, causing cross-contamination between potable and non-potable water supplies, can constitute a serious public health hazard. RPZ valves provide protection against this hazard.
An RPZ valve consists of two independent check valves, plumbed in series, with a pressure monitored chamber between them, forming a Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ). They act as a backflow preventer and provide mains water protection to category 4 fluid contamination risk situations.
